He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Best and Gladys Millar Best; his brother Charlie Best; his sister-in-law Marian Proctor; his brother Robert "Bob" Best (Marilyn); his parents-in-law, Leslie and Miriam "May" Austin; his siblings-in-law, Carole Ford and Jim Ford; his nephew Kenneth Ford; his siblings-in-law, Edward "Ted" Austin and Carol Austin; his nephew William "Bill" Austin; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Hammer and Gordon "Sonny" Hammer.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his children, Leslie McLeod (Dennis), Howard Best (Cyndy), Greg Best (Beth) and Matt Best; his grandchildren, Dan McLeod, Matthew McLeod (Nicole), Stephen McLeod (Ashley), Robyn Petryshyn (Bryan), James Best, Stephanie Jackson (Jason), Erica Best (Nick), Bradley Best (Alexandra) and Jaelyn Best; his great grandchildren, Nova Rose McLeod, Ayla McLeod and Elyse Petryshyn; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy and Fred Dayman. He is also survived by nieces, extended family and friends.
Donations may be made in Jim's honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer's Society of Niagara Region, or the Niagara SPCA (Welland).
