She was predeceased by: her parents, George Johnstone and Doreen Fidler; her stepfather Richard Fidler; her grandson Cory Eccles; and her siblings, Wayne Johnstone, Ernie Johnstone, Walter Johnstone, Frances Stoddart and Margaret Neilson.

She is survived by: her children, Doreen "Dolly" Grypstra (Mike Columbus), Carl Grypstra (Lee Ann Neutz) and Tammy Kendel (Glen); her siblings, Donald Johnstone (Rene) and Jeanette Gilkes (Jay); her siblings-in-law, Jack Neilson and Darlene Fidler; her grandchildren, Sandy Eccles, Nickie Eccles, Paula Eccles, Travis Grypstra, Natasha Grypstra and Jason Kendel; and her great grandchildren, Patricia, Johnathan, Johannah, Chloe, Bennett and Serena.
