He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia and Rene Gauther Jr. of Espanola; his grandparents, Delia, Rene Gauthier of Espanola, Mary and Philip Boudreau of Timmins; and his siblings, Patrick Gauthier, Ronald Gauthier, Yvette Lefebvre and Marie Emerson of Courtice.

He is survived by: his child Julie-Anne Campbell (Paul) of Ayr; his granddaughters, Josie and Rebecca Campbell; and his brothers, Richard "Giboo" Gauthier (Maryann) of Espanola, Paul Gauthier (Christine) and Daniel Gauthier of Timmins. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family asks that donations be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto on Gilbert's behalf.
