He was predeceased by: his sisters, Erica Welsand and Irene Alt (John); his sister-in-law Charlotte Welsand; and his parents, Rudolph Welsand and Olga Welsand (Barth).

He is survived by: his spouse Alice (Robinson); his children, Valerie Welsand of Kitchener, Sandi Conner (Dave) of Kingston, James Borton of Etobicoke and Christine Borton (Jeff) of Elmwood; his grandchildren, Sabrina MacDonald, Stephanie Vetero, Wyatt Borton and Alicia Fischer; his great grandchildren, Nathan MacDonald and Vienna MacDonald; and his siblings, Gerhard (Corola) of Kitchener, Bruno of Cambridge and Anita Banyard (Bob) of Waterloo.

Memorial donations to Parkview Manor Residents Fund, Diabetes Canada or Parkinson Canada would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
