Harrington Fitzgerald Critchley Obituary
We bid farewell to Harrington Fitzgerald Critchley (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 21, 2025 at the age of 32. Harrington Fitzgerald touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid adieu to Harrington Fitzgerald's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Harrington Fitzgerald has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
He is survived by: his parents, Barry Critchley and Dr. Leah Harrington; his wife Erin; his daughter Wren; his brothers, Jack and Theodore; and also Sophie.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sanctuary Arts Centre (100 Ochterloney St, Dartmouth, NS B2Y0G2). In the early days of COVID-19, he worked in coalition to help secure the release of nearly half the provincially incarcerated population in Nova Scotia and championed the creation of a sobering centre as an alternative to police lockup, advocating in memory of Corey Rogers, who died in custody in 2016.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harry Critchley Prison Justice Fund, devoted to sustaining the integrated prison and policing oversight work of ECPJS, EFMNS and PATH Legal and to bridging post-secondary education with community service. Donations can be made to the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia through Canada Helps or at http://www.efrymns.ca.
