He was predeceased by: his parents, Ludwig Bartkus and Steffie Bartkus of Linden, NJ.; and his nephew Chad Jussel. He is survived by: his wife Margaret (Dickie); his son Andrew of Ottawa; his sister Debbie Jussel (Paul) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; his stepsiblings, Julie DeCosimo and Bill DeCosimo of New Jersey; and his grandson Ian Sam.
He also volunteered with the Canadian Kidney Foundation, where he played an important role in helping enact legislation for presumed consent for organ donations in Nova Scotia.
