She was predeceased by: her spouse B. C.; her parents, Ferdinand Schulz and Olga Schulz; her husband Wally Strelau; her sister Margaret Schmidke (Len); and her sisters-in-law, Linda Schulz and Joanna Schulz.

She is survived by: her son Glenn Strelau (Rhoda); her grandchildren, Kayla (Travis) and Matthew (Kyle) of Surrey, BC; her daughter Colleen Martin (Dale); her grandsons, Will and Jack of Lethbridge, AB; and her brothers, Otto Schulz and Manfred Schulz (Wendy).

In 2010, the family noticed that Erika was showing early signs of dementia, which was then confirmed as Alzheimer's disease in 2011.
