Russell E Carter Obituary
Russell E. Carter
(Sept25, 1936 - May 5, 2023)
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Russell Carter on May 5, 2023, at the age of 86. Russ was born on September 25, 1936, in Belleville, Ontario.
Russ spent his career in various construction related trades and businesses and finished as a valued project manager/partner with his son’s company Millennium Construction Management on Vancouver Island.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years Margo, younger brother John (Gail), 3 children: Mark (Kathy), Colleen (Rob) and Paul (Maritsa) as well as cherished grandchildren: Leah (Mark), Angela (Mornay) and Jeremy (Aoife) and great-grandchildren: Mateo, Julia, Ethan, and Rome.
Russ will also be fondly remembered by sisters-in-laws Julia, Gail, and Laurie and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Jack and Lena Carter and youngest brother Robert.
Russ was well loved by all who knew him for his steady, quiet, and gentle approach to others as well as a fine sense of humour and solid reliability in all things and loyalty to all whom he cared for. He was the provider, peacekeeper, and anchor in his circle and humble in his seeming unawareness of how important he was and how much he meant to the people around him.
His most fervent wish was to stay at home until the end and that was accomplished due to the efforts of many including immediate family, extended family, and care workers but especially his wife Margo and youngest son Paul.
As per his final wishes, after cremation there will be an interment ceremony at a date yet to be announced for family and close friends and will be held at the cemetery on Quadra Island, BC followed by a celebration of life at home.
The family wishes to thank Dr Stephen Hughes and the home care support staff Diane, Skye, Fern and Annetta for the excellent care and attention they provided for Russ and the family during the final months of his life.
