He was predeceased by: his parents, William Porter and Elsie Porter; his brother Stanley; his uncle John Porter; and his cousins, Kenneth Porter and Beverly Ure.

He is survived by: his daughters, Della Franklin (Lee) and Rhonda Harris (Gerald); his grandchildren, Vanessa Franklin and Brant Franklin (Jade Wotowich); his nieces, Janice Van Veen (Frank) and Jane Evans; and his nephew Bill Porter (Joanne).
