He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Erna Liefke and Erhard Liefke; his sister Rose Mckenzie (Brian); his wife Bonnie; and his stepdaughters, Bailey Cunningham Brooke (Chanse Cunningham) and Billi Jean Johnston (Jay Blake).

In lieu of flowers, donate in Dave's name may be made to the Stollery Children's Hospital, as Dave donated there every Christmas.

“I am devastated to hear of the passing of Dave. He was such a character at Wesclean. I miss working with him and seeing his smiling face when I would walk in the door. After I left Wesclean, I would often see him and Greg Deeley at the New West Restaurant. Dave always had a smile. I'll miss him always. My condolences to his family.”
