She was predeceased by: her parents, Kamasuke Hamabata and Chiduka Hamabata; her sister Cheryl Prins; her brother-in-law Murray Smith; and her parents-in-law, Helen and David Major Sr..

She is survived by: her husband David Major; her children, Ian (Raeni) and Noriko Hessmann (Sean); her grandchildren, Aiko, Anouck and Cypris; her siblings, Happy Smith, Nadine Hamabata, Duane Hamabata and Louise Harrison (Jim); her sisters-in-law, Frances Paulisson (Al), Elspeth King (Peter) and Queade DiIlio (Bruno); her friend April; and her family, Iris and Wes.
