He was predeceased by: his son Vernon Sharkey; his parents, Lawrence Sharkey and Olga Sharkey; his brother Dwayne Sharkey; his granddaughter Makenzie Davey; and his great-nephew Jet Rowland.

He is survived by: his son-in-law Sheldon; his close friend Marlene Samson; his children, Lara Ryan (Sheldon), Dawn Davey (Sean) and Kendra LaPorte (Jamie); his grandchildren, Shae-Lynne, Nia, Trystan, Bishop, Ashton, Layla, Brayden and Seanna; his sisters, Marlene Fuduric (Brian), Shannon Peats (Troy) and Tammy Sharkey; and his sister-in-law Colleen Sharkey.
