He was predeceased by: his parents, David Fitzgerald and Julia Fitzgerald; his sisters, Lillian, Mary (Stoyles) and Margaret (Fahey); his nephew Big Tom; and his brothers-in-law, George Cole, Myles O'Brien and Brian O'Brien (Joanne).

He is survived by: his wife Fay; his children, David (Paulette), Rosemary Ford (Dion) and Deanna Blaquiere (Aaron); his grandchildren, Jordan Fitzgerald, Courtney Wood (Jeremy), Kelsey Ford and Carter Blaquiere; his child Fort; his siblings, Elsie Layte (Frank), Rita Cole, Edna Spencer (Glenn), Kevin (Carol), Edward (Elaine), Carl O'Brien (Nancy) and Bill O'Brien (Sandra Conway); and his sisters-in-law, Carmel Power (Wink), Nellie Butler, Betty Bickford (Ron), Sharon O'Brien (Chris Saunders) and Bernardine O'Brien. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
