He was predeceased by: his wife Tena; his son John Dykstra; his parents, Geeske Dykstra and Jan Dykstra; and his brothers-in-law, Jan Wierenga and Albert Bultena.

He is survived by: his children, Janna DeVink (Rieks), Jerry Dykstra (Sandra), Louis Dykstra (Bonita), Gail Huber (Jeff) and Darren Dykstra (Candace); and his sisters, Joke Wierenga, Klaaske Bultena, Martha Stelpstra (Sietse) and Coby Koopmans (Anne). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren.
