He was predeceased by : his parents, John Smolinski and Rose Smolinski; and his brothers, Robert and Donald Smolinski. He is survived by : his significant other Kathy Smolinski; his children, James A. Smolinski Jr. (Nancy), Ronald Smolinski (Jackie) and Robyn McChesney (Jeff); his grandchildren, Abbey Boutwell (Dan), Jacob Smolinski, Erica Aitken (Chris), Kate Lee-Pelt, Steven Stum and John Stum; and his great grandchildren, Teddy, Pippa and Cole.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home (21 Pierce Ave, Hamburg, NY 14075). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the St. Mary's Church (8175 E Eden Rd, Eden, NY 14057). A burial was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the St Mary's Cemetery E. Eden.
