With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Leila Thornton of Elmhurst, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 16, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the vast expanse of eternity, Leila shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Leila farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

She was predeceased by : her husband Delmar G. Thornton; and her children, Susan Burns and Roger. She is survived by : her children, Delmar Thornton (late Mary) and Dale Thornton (Julie); and her grandchildren, Aubrey Walk (Jesse), Lucas Thornton (Kiara), Robert Thornton (Mya), Delmar Thornton (Liz), Marty Milner and Roger Milner (Stephanie).

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home (435 N York St, Elmhurst, IL 60126). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Messiah Lutheran Church (130 W Butterfield Rd, Elmhurst, IL 60126).
