He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas I. Massie and Nancy J. Massie (Taylor); and his wife Vera F. Jenkins. He is survived by : his sons, Tim Massie (Karen) and Jim Massie (Carol). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 18th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home (2801 N Monroe St, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 18th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, May 18th 2024 at the Antioch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Decatur Humane Society.
